Come To Allendale
June 10 & 11, 2023

Allendale Farm
...is the Allen family's ancestral property located in Clarksville, Tennessee. It was deeded to Revolutionary War Militia Captain Abraham Allen in 1796. Two log homes were built on the farm. The first was completed before 1800, and the second, built later on higher ground, had a federal style brick attachment added in 1858. Both homes are still lived in! In 1978 Allendale Farm was added to the National Registry of HIstoric Places.
George Allen, Abraham's son, was born in 1774 in Orange County, North Carolina, and brought his wife, Elizabeth Blackwood, and four children to Tennessee in 1800. George's youngest son at the time, Abram, was said to have made the journey as an infant in his mother's lap. After moving to Tennessee, 11 more children were added to the family.
The descendants of George and Elizabeth Allen are numerous and are spread far and wide, across the country and around the world. Notable among the descendants is the movie star, known as The Last Singing Cowboy, Rex Allen.
Reunion Plans
Plans are in the early stages still, but there will be BarBQ; tours of the two homes, which are filled with antiques and objects from the 220 years of history; a color guard from the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution); family genealogy treasures; family tree charts; a tour of a nearby craft distillery located on the what was once another Allen family farm; cemetery visits; and more. Let us know if you have more ideas!
